KCAVP recognizes that outreach and education to the LGBT and non-LGBT is crucial in order to address the issues of violence in our community.  Below are some of the services that the outreach and education program provides.

Prevention Through Outreach and Education

Training Sessions
KCAVP facilitates training on domestic violence, sexual assault, and hate crimes in the LGBT community and tailors these sessions to meet the needs of any audience, professional or social, large or small, LGBT or heterosexual.

KCAVP provides speakers and discussion group participants for LGBT-specific issues as well as general domestic violence, sexual assault, and bias crimes topics.

Professional & Community Organizations
KCAVP collaborates with local, state and national groups involved in LGBT, domestic violence, sexual assault, and bias crimes issues in order to maximize and improve services. KCAVP is a member of the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs, the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence.

Event Participation
KCAVP participates in area events to increase visibility and reinforce the project's commitment to playing an active role in the community.

Technical Assistance
KCAVP works with local providers to review existing services and policies, recommend changes and, if appropriate, assist with implementing those changes to better serve victims and advocate prevention.

Statistical Reporting
KCAVP tracks incidents reported to the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs to show that these crimes are happening in the community as no other organizaitons in the area specifically track LGBT statistics of violent crime.
