Kansas City, MO--The Kansas City Anti-Violence Project is a sponsor of this year's Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) event. This event will be held at MCC Spirit of Hope Church, 3801 Wyandotte, Kansas City, Missouri at 4:00 p.m. The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.

"This event is of special event this year due to the death of Kaaseem Juanda," commented Doug Riley, executive director of KCAVP. "This is the first TDOR event where a local transgender person will be remembered." concluded Riley. Kaaseem Juanda was found dead at a rest stop in Mills County, Iowa on October 19, and she lived in Kansas City, KS.

The Kansas City Anti-Violence Project (KCAVP) is a Missouri nonprofit committed to providing services, advocacy and education for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and bias crimes within the metropolitan Kansas City area.
